That is right... my promotion is finally happening. It has been approved for almost a week now. I am not sure what has kept me from updating for so long but here it is. I probably wouldn’t have updated this morning but I was awakened before the alarm went off. Anyways, not sure yet what the official start date is, but in the very near future I will be the FULL-time system administrator for the entire city. Initially the position was only supposed to be part-time. Coleman (the city manager) presented it the city council on Tuesday and they approved a full time IT position for at least this budget year. I will still have to fill in the comm. center from time to time on emergency situations but I won’t have a regular shift. I honestly didn’t expect him to create the full time position. My interpretation from our meeting was that he was going to pull me full time to get the city caught up. Once I have things running and up to par then I would go back to my part-time status. I am excited. We are discussing pay now so I am not sure where that will land but I will be getting at least some sort of raise out of the deal. I do fear that I am going to miss the comm. center. The trill and excitement of sitting there doing absolutely nothing to working your ass off. I know I am going to miss working with some of my co-workers for hours on end... staring at each other, just to have something to do. I guess that is why I don’t mind being on an as needed basis in the comm. center since as much as I bitch sometimes I really love the work. Key words here... ‘the work’ not just ‘work’.
Speaking of ‘work’ it is getting close... gotta’ put some clothes on I suppose.
